THE POWER OF MORE THAN ONE THING

Caroline Brunne spoke to QUT Centre for Justice researchers as part of a panel discussion on "Lived Experience - Advocacy in Action" during Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month 2023.

Through Caroline's personal reflections, our researchers were able to develop a greater understanding of the importance of survivor voices, and the value these voices can add to policy, practice and research. We were grateful for the brave, open and candid way Caroline shared her experience with us.

Caroline Brunne was a speaker at the 2023 Australian Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence Recovery and Healing Conference. Caroline is a compelling and intelligent survivor advocate encouraging us all to face and discuss the reality of intrafamily child sexual abuse – the taboo subject of incest. Bravely using her own lived experience, Caroline compassionately engages us to all be courageous for the sake of protecting other children and recognising that the impact of trauma can show up for us in different ways – including for people who deftly hide in plain sight by being high functioning and seemingly ‘successful’. When Caroline speaks and shares her knowledge and insights, we should all listen for how we can play a better role in caring for children at risk and supporting survivors. Make sure you read her book!

There are some women you come into contact with and they exude such power and confidence, balanced beautifully with softness and femininity. Caroline is one of them. A true professional powerhouse with a story that will not only touch your heart and soul but light a fire within.

International Women's Day Event - Griffith University Institute for Glycomics

I first met Caroline when she joined one of the Project Gen Z social impact trips to Cambodia, and since then I have been lucky enough to be inspired by her as a speaker, and have her on board as a facilitator.

Caroline is a passionate and inspiring speaker with the ability to adapt her message to any audience in a relatable and interesting way. She has an incredible care factor, and is truly committed to enriching the lives of the people she comes into contact with.

If you get the chance to meet Caroline, attend a workshop she is running, or hear her present, I highly recommend you do whatever it takes to get there!

Working with Caroline was such a pleasure, she easily adapted to our needs and delivered a wonderful, engaging, practical workshop that everyone loved!

Creating a women's empowerment event where the focus was on Domestic Violence Survivors was no easy task. From the moment Caroline and I connected and discussed the topics, how to share stories without re-traumatising, and the desire to create a safe space, the tone was set, and the process of working with her was so inspiring. Caroline delivered a keynote address at the Shine event, which was vulnerable, personal and full of practical and simple ways each attendee could support other women experiencing Domestic Violence. Thank you, Caroline, for your courage, bravery, and commitment to bringing safety to women's lives through your story and your speech.

We had the pleasure of hearing Caroline Brunne speak at the RACV Club for International Women’s Day. Her honesty and vulnerability in sharing her personal story were both moving and courageous, creating a genuine connection with the audience from the outset.   Caroline’s bravery in speaking openly about her journey was not only inspiring but also offered deep and valuable insights into how we can better support ourselves and others through challenging times. She especially encouraged women to be brave - to back themselves, speak up, and lean into their own strength, even when it feels uncomfortable. It was inspiring and empowering to hear.   Her ability to turn her experiences into actionable guidance for others was particularly powerful. Attendees walked away feeling not only inspired but also equipped with practical tools to foster resilience, empathy, and meaningful human connection.   Caroline is a remarkable speaker, and we are incredibly grateful to have had her present at our club.
